You don't have to be an anime otaku to enjoy the shiny, colorful art of the animation cel. Any one of these large plastic images of big-eyed kids with exploding hair, sexy robots in fetish gear, etc., will look great matted and framed on the wall of your cyber-punk pad - especially when illuminated from behind.
Anime World Star has all manner of anime production goods, from image cels and backgrounds, genga (pencil sketch) and douga (layout), cards and sometimes even complete 35mm films in the cans (a steal at 350,000 yen). The store is attractively laid out, with the best images already matted and displayed in racks. You'll find partial images for as little as 1,000 yen in the binders stacked on the bookshelves, while rather poorer, messed up items are stuffed into envelopes in bins. Mint condition images on top of full backgrounds go for between 4,500 to 30,000 yen - depending on the popularity of the character and the show. The shop boasts that it has over 100,000 cels in stock all the time - from current popular TV series and OVAs (original video anime), to classic anime feature films. The costume-play action heroine New Cutey Honey looks fetching in a variety of a sexy outfits that combine fetishism with wrestling fashions. The little robot with a big heart from Tree of Palme is cute too, but the only cels available show him all bashed up and broken.
